I say, then when?
Should we wait until the pain and lessons we learned that day are so numbed and forgotten that we can finally be entertained by this true story? Should we never watch movies about Pearl Harbor or WWII or Vietman? Should we wait until all the victims and witnesses of that event are dead before seeing it?
This film, which I was lucky enough to catch a screening of last night, comes out in a week. It's EXTREMELY respectful and honorable. For more info, you can check out my amateur movie review website at cinemafox.com.
Here's what I had to say in my review:
"This film delivers in a very respectful manner, which is important given it's controversial release only a few years after 9/11. The simple story, fueled by an extreme roller coaster of emotions, surrounds the true events of two NY cops trapped under the World Trade Center after it collapses. The audience is pulled into the candid story by observing the events from multiple perspectives - the cops and their worried families at home. Oliver Stone directs this emotionally exhausting film, using no spin and letting the story tell itself. It's a very powerful experience, and I highly recommend it."
What do you think? Are you going to see it?
