I heard a story this morning on NPR about a new NIKE shoe that has a little sensor in it that wirelessly connects to your ipod nano.
Why,you ask, do my feet need to talk to my ipod? So your ipod can tell your feet to shake a leg. The device in the shoe measures how fast you're going, distance, and other stats while you're running or walking. And then it interrupts your shuffle to tell you what your current stats are, and to pick up the pace.
Now, I know some people that think the ipod shuffle is reading their minds, playing just the right song at just the right moment or mood. And now it is actually watching you and telling you to feel the burn.
The next hurdle for the ipod sneaker? Being taken seriously. Apparently, it isn't the best shoe for running, so experts aren't recommending it, even though it comes equipped with an obnoxious running buddy that spouts off numbers and stays three paces ahead of you during your trek.
I'm ready for the machine that picks out my clothes and dresses me, like the one George had. Or that briefcase car.
