Flu-be-do-bee-do

I’m not getting a flu shot this year. In fact, I’ve never had one, despite being the mother of a young child. I can’t remember exactly
why, but I escaped getting one last year, and the topic has come up yet again. I just don’t want a flu shot.

I'm not getting a flu shot this year. In fact, I've never had one, despite being the mother of a young child. I can't remember exactly why, but I escaped getting one last year, and the topic has come up yet again. I just don't want a flu shot.

I know, the very young and very old should definitely get one, etc. etc. But I don't know if I want my kid to have one, either. I mean, it only guesses at keeping you safe from the flu, right? And in my mind, it hasn't been around long enough for me to feel safe about it. Who knows what's going to happen long-term with the flu shot. There may be lots of people with mutated this and that in the future, thanks to the flu shot. It's much like my paranoia of Lasik eye surgery. No thanks until we know what happens in fifty years, which bumps me permanently out of the 20/20 club.

Call me crazy, I just don't want a shot of virus that may or may not be helpful. I'd like to keep my hosting of viruses to a minimum. I may be singing a different tune when I'm curled up on my bathroom floor with the barfing flu, but I'm just not jumping for joy over the flu shot this year.

So now I learn that the flu shot is in short supply, and not everybody can have one, which makes me kind of want one. But not badly enough to get one.
