A friend of mine introduced me to Bond. For those of you who don't know, Bond does synthesizer and strings composition, and this is pretty much the closest thing I've heard to true instrumental. Maybe I'm sheltered from the new-age classical that's out there, but I've seen nothing. I bet if there had been CD stores back in the establishment of America (all doubts aside), the classic musicians would be the talk of the town. When I look at history, sometimes I think I would sacrifice the luxuries of modern society for how things were then. Obviously there were a lot of prejudices, but I think it could've been overcome faster with the right people.
I think the real problem is that true musicians just need to step up. I don't mind change and the revolution of music, but I think that at the same time we should be able to maintain the delicacy of classic instrumental arrangement. It's one thing to attend a college orchaestra, but another to be in an orchaestra. What would the world be like if you saw Beethoven on a blog? For once, I'd like to see orchaestra go mainstream.
